figure skating She is a very skilled skater who’s become well known for pulling off many dangerous sensational stunts on the ice, choreographing her own moves, and pushing her body to new limits. Some of her claims to fame are perfection of the quadruple axel, a very complicated jump in which she was the first and only ever person to do during competition and creating the “Humbolt Spiral”. cryokinesis As a result of scientific experiments mutating her genetics, she has the ability to create, shape, and manipulate ice (details here). Since she never received proper training and has suppressed herself as much as possible, her skill with this ability is extremely weak, unstable, and juvenile.

fire / heat It can chaotically clash with not only her ability for cryokinesis, but her physical body as a whole. She is much more sensitive than the average person towards heat and has frequently suffered fainting spells, heatstroke, becomes easily burned, etc. Any act of cryokinesis can be overpowered or negated via heat, fire, or similar abilities. frostbite Despite having a much higher tolerance for cold than the average human, she is still not fully protected from suffering symptoms of frostbite or involuntary cryostasis when using her power. She can receive anywhere from superficial to deep frostbite. If left untreated she may develop gangrene and/or dead tissue that needs amputation. Even worse, her whole body may freeze over and be stuck in an icy tomb depending on circumstance.

trigger warning mentions of child abuse, graphic injury, and medical misconduct.when blair is born in 1967 amidst the bustling new york city, her poverty-stricken parents make the hard decision to allow their newborn child to become a test subject in a classified government funded experiment on genetic mutations. at first all seems tolerable as they are given a weekly payout, free childcare, and their rent paid for.

what the humbolts weren't aware of was the nature and intensity of the research project. not only do the project's biogeneticists mutate her DNA, they conduct cruel and abusive experiments in order to test the childrens' abilities after successful mutation. blair survives these tests and begins to show unpredictable, untrained, yet potentially powerful ability for cryokinesis; the manipulation of ice and cold temperatures.once they begin to notice physical signs of abuse on little blair's body and realize her strange new powers after witnessing it with their own eyes during visits to the laboratory, the humbolts convince the project leaders to return custody of blair. they are forced to compromise and begrudgingly agree to permit the scientists to make frequent check-ins or else be threatened to have their child forever taken away from them.as she grows up her parents attempt to give her a normal life. they hide the truth of the experiments she suffered and never explain her power, hoping to keep it at bay by investing in her passion for figure skating. young blair's great talent and athletic prowess leads her to climb the career ladder quickly as a teenager, competing in the olympic winter games and winning multiple medals in championships across the globe. her first major claim to fame comes when she makes figure skating history and becomes the first ever person in the world to land a difficult move called "the quadruple axel jump" during the winter olympics in 1984.despite being at the peak of her career with fast-growing fame and wealth, blair receives a scholarship and begins studying journalism at columbia university. shortly after beginning an internship at the new york times assisting their crime columnist, she becomes haunted by multiple increasing cases of children going missing in her homecity. curiosity leads her to investigate these crimes which she suspects may be connected, only to unlock old suppressed memories of her early childhood. over the years she ventures into darkness and dangerous circumstances all in the pursuit to gather evidence that manhattan's spike in missing children cases is the fault of none other than the corrupt biogeneticists who long ago changed her body, mind, and destiny.against all warnings and many attempts of assassination against her life, blair goes public by publishing an exposé of her evidence and reporting subsequently to the FBI. a lengthy series of police investigations and trials eventually lead to some of the corrupt scientists receiving guilty convictions while the government responsible for funding them are only ordered to pay monetary compensation to all the victims who came forward in the trial- including blair herself.by 1990 she is exhausted from journalism and revives her figure skating career at the encouragement of longtime friend and fellow skater, prince maxwell von adler of belgium. together they are a fiercely competitive and artistically gifted duo who compete worldwide in pairs ice dance. once again blair is cheered on as a champion of the skate world while she falls in love with her partner. the couple finally marry in december 1995, making blair the princess of belgium and future queen consort of the belgians.
